Not long ago a group of "aging" Homestead Valley residents asked themselves: "where would I rather grow old than right here where I have lived most of my life?". This was the foundation for Homestead Village. Members and neighbors participate in programs at the Homestead Valley Community Center, a place they helped build and at which many of their children grew up. We are committed to providing the neighborly assistance that helps our older residents stay in their own homes and live safe, independent and connected lives.
Homestead Village in our own neighborhood is one of six local "Villages" in Marin, all linked to and supported by a central "umbrella" organization: Marin Villages.
Would you - or perhaps your aging parents who live in Homestead - like to become members of Marin Villages, or learn more about it?
Please call or email Christina Oldenburg (388-9315) (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ginna Fleming (381-8298) (email@example.com), or click on the "How to Join" button above to get information about joining and to receive an application form.
Would you be interested in joining your neighbors as an occasional volunteer to help out a member with some household task or drive them to a doctor's appointment?
You don't have to be a member to become a volunteer, although many of our volunteers do join or make a contribution to the organization, knowing that when eventually we need it, we would like to be able to turn to our neighbors for help.
Would you like to be on our "elist" or a phone list to hear about social events or programs about relevant issues that we sponsor?
Our events are open to all Homestead residents, whether members or not. Please let Christina or Ginna know about your interest.
