Have you ever been tempted to apply to serve on the Marin County Civil Grand Jury?  Or wondered how it works and what its role is in county government?  Please plan to join us for this information session aimed at answering some of your questions.

Jack Nixon, President of the Marin Chapter of the California Grand Jurors' Association will be our presenter.  Jack will make about a half-hour presentation and then take your questions for the remainder of the time.  His presentation will be two-fold, to introduce us to the role and function of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury and to help explain the responsibilities of a juror in some detail for those of you who might be interested in applying to serve as a juror.

As many of you know, Marin Villages was formed after several founding members served on the Grand Jury.  In 2007, one of the Grand Jury’s findings was that Marin County was the fastest aging county in the state and that by 2030, one out of three Marinites would be 65 or older.  After serving on the jury, Loulie Sutro, Founder and long-time Board President of Marin Villages, formed a task force to discuss the problems of aging in Marin County.  That effort, led by Loulie and other like-minded citizens, including fellow jury members, was the first step in founding Marin Villages.  Just one example of how the research and findings of the Grand Jury have resulted in positive action within our county.

Last year Mill Valley Village sponsored a similar information session locally and one of the attendees went on to submit an application and is now serving as a juror.

Sponsored by Mill Valley and Twin Cities Villages, the session will be held in the Community Room of the Central Marin Police Authority at 250 Doherty Drive in Larkspur. There is plenty of parking both at the station and behind the police station at Piper Park.

Be sure to put this on your calendar and bring a friend or neighbor.

All are welcome!
